Hi, I am Ana Sofía and I am going to talk about my experience in Ireland. I have been here for nearly two years now so I thought it would be a great idea to compare both experiences. Sincerely I’ve had a great time on the two occasions I have been here, the first one was fantastic and that was the main reason why I wanted to come back.
To begin with, I am going to describe how I felt the very first time I came here. When I was 12 years old, I was very immature, the people who came were not very close to me, so I was really nervous and homesick. At the beginning, I found it very hard to adapt myself to a new lifestyle, everything was absolutely new for me and I was unhappy because I missed my family, I did not know my Irish family… All in all, at the start of the school year I was not very excited about having come here. As the days passed, I started hanging out with my Irish family and it turned out that I fitted perfectly in that family. My Irish family made my experience in Ireland unique, not to forget my friends, who helped me a lot. Academically, I would like to outline how much English I learnt during my stay in Ireland, I was surprised with the level of English I had after having spent a year here. What I also found interesting is that in Sek Dublin we have more responsibility, the teachers are always open to suggestions… The school is like a family, because it is really small and we get to know everybody perfectly.
In my second year, I was not afraid of I what I was going to find in Ireland, as I already knew the family and the school. I could not wait to see my Irish family again. I was really looking forward to coming back. I would also like to add that I have come with people who I already knew, and who are very close to me. So, I knew for certain that it was going to be great fun. With no doubt, this year I am improving my English as much as I did two years ago or even more.
Lastly, I would like to say that I enjoyed my experience in Ireland when I was in 6th grade and I am not having less fun this year. My objectives for this year, are to improve my English as much as I can and maybe try to do the Advanced. I would also like to keep having a good time during the rest of the year.
